My Halloween Day Out

Some days ago, while I was browsing facebook, I came through a post on Halloween and its celebration (or no celebration) in many countries. No doubt, this Halloween is not in our culture and in fact, I was not even aware of this, say till last 4-5 years, but like many other festivities, India being a country of diversity, people here have started celebrating this too as all like to get ready in different costumes (kaddu especially!!) and do different things. I was in Australia for approx 2 year and there I felt the zest of this Halloween thing. People there get ready with so much of variety, costumes, makeups, there is so much of hustle bustle on roads, that you can’t avoid the feel of Halloween. So, this post is dedicated to my time there. You can say this post is an year old :).

What is Halloween –

Halloween is a celebration that is dedicated to remembering of the dead, including saints, martyrs and all the faithful departed. The celebration is observed in many countries on 31st October every year. The word ‘Halloween’ basically means ‘Holy Evening’. Halloween costumes earlier comprised of mostly supernatural figures, say, vampires, monsters, ghosts, witches etc. but over time, the costume selection widened to include popular figures, ninjas and princesses too.

Why Halloween is getting famous in India according to me –

Because people like to try out various costumes with those OTT makeups and go with the hype plus they are mostly unrecognizable and hence, can frighten many 😛 :). In India, we have ‘Shraddh’ time when we remember our ancestors and pay homage to them. But some people like Halloween too. No harm, till no harm is done to anybody. We have got one life and we should enjoy it to the fullest, without troubling anybody, as much as possible.

Let’s enjoy some pics now 🙂
