So, friends, this is the thing I always avoid – Exercise !!

My Weight Loss Journey

The feeling makes me lie down and go to sleep again. I know many many out there with strong will powers who take up healthy path courses in life and succeed at that. I have many nearby examples – one, my lovely sister Ritcha. She lost almost 5-7 kgs on her own, no professional help, no gym. All exercising and dieting and following all those tips that many of you shared on your respective blogs or websites πŸ™‚

She succeeded and now, I also want to πŸ™‚

I have seen Ana of, Launna of LettersfromLaunna, our darling Tej (Tejinder Kaur) and many more strong willed gals that have lost considerable weight. They have done it and set examples for many of us. We just have to take inspiration and start. From today, not tomorrow or next monday, because, we all know that monday or tomorrow never comes!!

That’s just a way to avoid.

Now, coming to my weight loss journey, first let me tell you that I have named this post as 1 because I want to share with you all some milestones if I achieve any or the failures too but I really hope and believe that no failure would be there.

Point to note : I have Hypothyroid and I take 100 mcg Eltroxin and I occasionally have knee pains.

I have hypothyroidism for last 3 years, may be more, but that was when it was diagonosed :). I take Eltroxin 100mcg. Quite big…huhhhh!! My thyroid condition is a major reason for my joint pains, yes I do have them, especially knee pains, forgetfulness (Naomi, that’s why I say never feel bad if I forget anything, just ping me ;), an amazing gal you are…kisses), grey hair and some other small symptoms which keep appearing and going.

I know there are some people who scoff at others with thyroid issues and basically say that the person is just making an excuse or being lazy in the name of thyroid and thats why he/she has gained weight. Hypothyroidism, if not taken care of can be a very serious issue. It slows down all the major organs of the body and can be life threatening if not taken care of at the right time. It can make you gain weight, and it can slow down weight loss process, regardless of exercise. But it’s not the same for everyone. Keep it under control first and then start with your diet and exercise regime.

It always feels bad to try to explain to anybody or everybody that I forget due to under active thyroid, i have pains due to under active thyroid or any such thing. And what hurts most is that you get bad advise from other hypothyroid friends that “gal, you won’t be able to lose as you have thyroid”. Oh yes, I do believe the same πŸ™‚

But not anymore.

This time, I want to try anything or everything seriously. I will do all- exercise, diet, whatever it takes.

Now, why is this my first day for my weight loss goal!!

I have already lost 2-3 kgs by simply doing some home exercises, avoiding sugar as much as I can, reducing food intake, keeping rotis to minimum etc. etc., not very religiously but yes, I did all this 80-90% and it took a month max to lose those 2-3 kgs. Simple.

But what now. Would anymore of it go now this way? Do I have the will power to continue like this? Both No.

So, I decided to join a fitness center. This has been my first day at fitness center πŸ™‚ What I did – 10 mins of treadmill, 8 mins cycling, 3 mins twist, 2 normal exercises and thats it. I was sweating like hell after that πŸ™‚ My trainer didn’t want to scare me and so he stopped πŸ˜‰

What I feel now, Good, Happy, a little bit light πŸ™‚ but with little pains in my knees :(.
Never mind. It will go, I know πŸ™‚ and will take away with it, my 10 kgs and oodles of fat πŸ˜‰

  1. I love me some great motivation! You know there are great excercises out there that are light on the knees as well! Wish you good luck with your project, and as I always say, don't start a diet you are not willing to pursue for the rest of your life…it's a lifestyle.

Good luck darling….For me u alwyz look beautiful sweethrt ..but I m happy u started …I losts 15 kilos after my ist pregnancy with samar …but this time I will start soon (may be in 6 months) as had c section ..can't do zumba n aerobics nw but will in 6 months…I did everything at home no gym at all..but was very happy with my result …I m not fit these days as gained weight again after my 2nd baby….ha ha…but I m v happy n proud of u…keep updating us…love ..tej

  12. Thanks for your support Tej…but you have put on normal weight and I am damn sure you will lose it very fast and easily. If one gets control over body, and knows how to lose it, then one can do it anytime. Its tough for the first time only… will do it πŸ™‚

I know someone who has the same issues with thyroid I know is ot easy, just go on your pace and do not look at the scale everyday try on a clothes item you use to wear and see your accomplishment. I know in this rate you will be healthy but do not deprive is the worst I always advice you could eat what you like in moderation. Best of luck doll.

It's great that you take actions towards being healthy, I tried to do similar so many times before and I have an advice for you: Don't do these things to lose weight, do it to look healthy or to simply become more active. For me, when I didn't see immediate changes regarding how body looked like or my weight, I quit going to the gym or eating healthy, but once you make up your mind that this is the healthy lifestyle, I believe you can go from there easier.   32. Good luck with your exercise goals! I have been trying to exercise more frequently too, and it is hard to keep it up! I'll do it for a couple day, and then think I deserve a break, and then never start again. But I do feel better afterwards so that's what keeps me somewhat motivated!

  70. From my experience, I can tell you that if you really want to lose weight, you need to want it for real and have a lot of will power. I've lost around 15 kg since february… going to the gym and dieting (by my gyms nutritionist)… basically healthy eating, no junk food, no soda, no sweets… I'm sure if I really wouldnt want that, I wouldnt have made it so far.
